The Base and first floor taking shape |
As I have just launched this blog you have some catching up to do so I have pulled out some images taken from just a few weeks into the build to 6 months ago.
This house is totally scratch built in a traditional form, using reclaimed oak to build the timber frame and then filling in the panels with thin MDF sheets clad with plaster filler. The Oak flooring is individually nailed to the frame using tiny nails.

When it comes to the roof (again, updated pictures to follow) I shaped the roof by hand to make a sag, I didn't want a straight roof, what 500 year old house has one of those! Once I had the desired shape I hand glued 3500 terracotta tiles to it which, believe me tested my patience! The end result was awesome and really finishes off the look.
Nearly there with the final shape |
I have 6 months worth of updates to post but these pictures bring you up to this year and I will add updates from now on so you can follow the build to completion.
Any questions or comments are welcome. Enjoy!
