The Tudor Dolls House. An Oak framed scratch built house in 12th scale

The Base and first floor taking shape
So, 5 years after starting this project for my Wife, I am close to finishing!

As I have just launched this blog you have some catching up to do so I have pulled out some images taken from just a few weeks into the build to 6 months ago.

This house is totally scratch built in a traditional form, using reclaimed oak to build the timber frame and then filling in the panels with thin MDF sheets clad with plaster filler. The Oak flooring is individually nailed to the frame using tiny nails.

First Floor boarding complete
The doors all have hand made strap hinges made from Polymer clay and copper wire (ill post some pictures of these updates in a later post.

When it comes to the roof (again, updated pictures to follow) I shaped the roof by hand to make a sag, I didn't want a straight roof, what 500 year old house has one of those! Once I had the desired shape I hand glued 3500 terracotta tiles to it which, believe me tested my patience! The end result was awesome and really finishes off the look.

Nearly there with the final shape

I have 6 months worth of updates to post but these pictures bring you up to this year and I will add updates from now on so you can follow the build to completion.

Any questions or comments are welcome. Enjoy!

Welcome to Magical Miniatures, the home of hand crafted Harry Potter Miniatures

Good afternoon world!

Ive just set up my first Blog and look forward to sharing my creativity with all the Harry Potter fans the world over!

Just to bring you up to speed, my hobby of creating Harry Potter related miniatures was started around 10 years ago when my daughters asked me to make some Harry Potter related items for their three dolls houses. I started experimenting with various  ideas and produced some broomsticks and the tiny Quidditch set which I will feature in a future post.

I realised that I had something that other Harry Potter fans may want and started producing a small amount of items to sell on Etsy. Due to the time taken on each item and the fact that I didn't follow any patterns, these items take a considerable amount of time to produce and are very much one offs, although I now follow a theme after mastering the techniques to produce these miniature marvels. No two items are ever exactly the same.

I have recently started to produce these items again and have added a few more items to my itinerary and this is why I thought I would start a blog, ive never dome this before so bear with me!

Please do contact me with any thoughts or suggestions on what I could produce next! I am always happy to start a new venture! I am just in the process of building a Mad Eye Moody broom which I will add to this blog as soon as I have something to show. In the meantime, welcome! and I look forward to sharing ideas with you all.

Enjoy...
